 The Dead Sea of Israel is the lowest point on earth. It is called Yam Hamelach in Hebrew, which means the sea of salt. Due to extreme evaporation in this region water of this sea has high concentration of salt and minerals. As a result no aquatic species can survive here. However, the salt and minerals that are available here are beneficial for the human skin.

The therapeutic effect of this salt is known since centuries. It was praised by Aristotle, the great thinker and the Egyptian queen Cleopatra for such remarkable properties. The Egyptians procured tons of bitumen out of it to use in the process of mummification of the pharaohs. The sea is called a natural spa.
